This final project is entitled "Analysis of Code Switch Used by Cinta
Laura in Kick Andy Show on Youtube Channel "Metro TV", a video
posted on December 12, 2022. This research aims to categorize the types,
functions, and contexts of code-switching used by Cinta Laura in the Kick
Andy Show "Metro TV". In this talk show, there is a guest star named
Cinta Laura. This conversation took place on Metro TV's Youtube
Channel. In the conversation, they used two languages, namely
Indonesian and English. This qualitative research analysis analyzes the
type and context using Hoffman's theory (1991) and the function of code-
switching using Gumperz's theory (1982). This research data is collected
by watching, finding, analyzing, recording, and classifying. The results
of this study found 57 utterances data and classified the types of code-
switching, namely Intra-Sentential with 39 utterances (68.42%) data as
the most types of code-switching found in the video, on the function of
code-switching
message
qualification
personalization
versus
objectification, namely 3 utterances (37.5%), and the last is the context of
utterances containing code-switching, namely, Being emphatic about
something and intention to clarify the content of speech to the
interlocutor, namely 20 utterances (35.09%).
