Many students now have difficulty in learning English, especially in
reading good and correct English, which then affects their speaking

alternatives to assist students in improving English language learning,
one of which is in the context of language learning through film. This

determine the results of students' reading comprehension skills before
and after applying English Film Subtitles; And to find out whether there
are significant differences for students in mastering their reading
comprehension before and after being taught using this method. This
study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design
involving 34 students as a research sample. The research was conducted
through several stages as follows: pre-test, treatment, post-test. Data
collection was obtained from pre-test and post-test results. Researchers
analyzed data using Microsoft SPSS version 25.The results showed that
the learning outcomes of students who were taught without using English
film subtitles were lower than the learning outcomes of students who
were taught with English film subtitles shown with an average pre-test
score of 57.50 and post-test 86.47.Furthermore, the analysis of data
normality on the Wilcoxon test showed Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed)
0.000<0.005 means the hypothesis is accepted. Using the Wilcoxon test
because there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test
results. This significance is supported by students' perceptions which
show that 86% more, students state that their English skills improve
when learning to use English film subtitles. Researchers concluded that
