This research is designed to explain the cultural expressions shown in the movie
(The Hangover). The goals of this research are (1) to find the idiomatic
expressions used in the Hangover movie. (2) The types of idiomatic expressions
described in the movie. (3) The realizations of cultural aspect of idiomatic
expressions in the movie. This research used descriptive qualitative research. The
researchers completed several steps: The Hangover films with English and
Indonesian subtitles were retrieved from www.Subscene.com. The researchers
put idiomatic expressions in films based entirely on Indonesian subtitles.
Idiomatic expressions would be the focus of this step after the researcher
analyzes the method of developing idiomatic expressions in the movie of The
Hangover. Based on research the researchers identified 35 idiomatic expressions
from the movie Hangover. There are three types of idiomatic expressions. 3
Trinomial idiomatic expressions 7 euphemisms 25 idiomatic expressions can be
consistent/fixed statements.
