The objectives of the study were: 1)To find out types of Figurative speech
which are expressed in Ben E King song lyrics. 2) To figure out types of Figurative
speech which are dominantly used in Ben E King song lyrics. This research uses
qualitative research method for analyzing the data.
This research is investigates the figurative speech on the song “Stand by
Me” by Ben E King. It focuses on find out types of Figurative speech which are
expressed in Ben E King song lyrics and to figure out types of Figurative speech
which are dominantly used in Ben E King song lyrics. The result of this research,
showed that the researcher found four types of figurative speech which are
personification 1 (4%), metaphor 1 (4%), hyperbole 3 (13%), and repetition 19
(79%). From the data we can see the most dominant type of figurative speech found
in the song "Stand by Me" is "repetition," with a percentage of 79%.
