This research aims to determine (1) the students' vocabulary mastery in learning English of
the eighth-grade students at SMPN 1 Karangawen. (2) the students' grammar mastery in
learning English of the eighth-grade student at SMPN 1 Karangawen. (3) the students'
reading comprehension learning English of the eighth-grade student at SMPN 1
Karangawen (4). To find out wether their is correlation between the students’ vocabulary
mastery and their reading comprehension of the eighth-grade student at SMPN 1
Karangawen (5).To find out wether their is correlation between the students’ grammar
mastery and their reading comprehension of the eighth-grade student at SMPN 1
Karangawen. (6) wether their correlation between the students' vocabulary mastery,
grammar mastery and their reading comprehension of the eighth-grade student at SMPN 1
Karangawen. This research uses quantitative methods with a correlational design. The
population of this study was class 8 students at SMPN 1 Karangawen and the sample was
class 8C, totaling 32 students. Vocabulary tests, grammar tests and reading comprehension
tests were used as research instruments. The collected data was analyzed using multiple
regression. The research findings showed that (1) students' vocabulary mastery was
54.375%, (2) grammar mastery was 60.218%, (3) students' reading comprehension was
63.46%, (4) there was no correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and reading
comprehension. significance value 0.939 and t count 0.078 < t table 2.037; (5) there is a
correlation between grammar mastery and reading comprehension with a significance
value of 0.001 and t count 3.637 > t table 2.037; (6) there is a correlation between
vocabulary mastery, grammar mastery and reading comprehension which is determined by
calculated F 8.905 > F table 3.32.
