This study aimed to find out the word-formations and the meanings of the slang
words used by Justin Bieber on Instagram. This study used a descriptive qualitative
method to capture the process of word-formations and the meaning of English Slang
used by Justin Bieber on his captions. The writer used the theory of the wordformations’ process by Yule (2010) to analyse the data of English slang. The data
were obtained through reading, capturing, and understanding the captions posted in
a year (from June 2020 – June 2021). This study revealed that seven types of wordformations’ English slang words were used by Justin Bieber in his captions. Those
are, (1) Clipping, (2) Blending, (3) Borrowing, (4) Acronym, (5) Derivation, (6)
Coinage, and (7) Multiple Processes. Clipping has appeared as the most frequent
type of English slang word-formations with 42 data’s frequency (51%). Most of the
words used by Justin Bieber are well-known terms. This study indicates that Bieber
as a famous singer tended to use clipping types to simplify the words on the captions
in every posted video or photo. Bieber aimed to deliver the message in a short
simple sentence and a common term so everyone, especially his followers could
understand easily his notion
