Abstract

Keywords : English vocabulary, folktales in Indonesia, problems in learning, VAK learning
method.
This research is a descriptive qualitative that aims to determine the
implementation and perceptions of students, teachers, users and experts on the
UFLESCON application. The subjects in this study were students of mega Islamic
boarding school class x male and x female, teachers, students or prospective
teachers and application experts. Researcher used 4 questionnaires, 3 opened
questionnaires and 1 closed questionnaire. Besides that, the research carried out
through 3 stages. Stages of development, implementation and evaluation. The
results showed that the UFLESCON application is an application that can increase
student vocabulary, increase motivation and introduce students to folktales in
Indonesia, this application also can increase students’ motivation because of the
moral value from the video. The UFLESCON application can also be used in
listening, reading and vocabulary classes. The difference between this application
from the others is that the author made this application herself and uses folktales
which are now rarely recognized by millennial as teaching materials so that classes
are not boring and students do not lose motivation to learn. The researcher used
VAK (Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic) learning methods in this application to
involve students' hearing, vision and movement making this application interesting,
simple and can help students in reading, listening, speaking and improving
vocabulary. Results indicated that UFLESCON application requires a few
enhancements such as the audio part, color, and video quality enhancement. The
addition of videos is also needed such as historical stories and others. In addition,
the need to distribute applications so that they are easy to obtain the application.
