This Final Project is based on studies that try to use a movie or short movie in
teaching writing Descriptive text to students. By using different learning tools or
media in learning in the form of films, it will be easier and motivate students to
explore their creative ideas. Movie made students easily absorb the new
knowledge and able to write their idea based on what they had watched then
produced a good descriptive text. The main objective of this research is to study
whether writing descriptive text with movie for example such as the Spongebob
Squarepants Movie having effect when writing descriptive text. This research uses
Qualitative. The subject of this research is a class as a sample. They are twenty
eight students of Eighth Grade of MTs Fatahillah Rejosari Karangawen Demak.
There are several steps that the author uses in the data. First is Observation,
Second is a Questionnaire, and the last is conducting interviews with students.
The researcher only uses one class because the researcher only wants to take
information from students who receive what is used. The results of this study, the
study got a conclusion that the students of EighthGrade of MTs Fatahillah
Rejosari Karangawen Demak, really interested and agree if the teacher uses movie
or short movie as a means of encouraging students in teaching and learning
activities such as writing descriptive text. In conclusion, the researcher concluded
that the students of eighth grade MTs Fatahillah Rejosari Karangawen Demak
were enjoy following the process of learning to write descriptive text with
Spongebob Squarepants movie. So, it is advisable for teachers to use the media
process needed to increase students‟ interest and enjoy with the conclusion based
on the result of questionnaire test with 71% the eighth grade students of MTs
Fatahillah Rejosari Karangawen Demak are agree if their teacher use short movie
as media teaching learning process.
