This final project focuses on implementation of Basic Questioning as technique
in teaching descriptive text to improve the students‟ writing ability. The
objectives of the study are: (1) To find out the writing ability in descriptive text
taught by using basic questioning as technique. (2) To find out students‟ ability
in descriptive text taught without basic questioning as technique. (3) To find out
the significant difference in writing descriptive text between students who are
taught with basic questioning technique and those who are taught without basic
questioning technique. (4) To find out students‟ difficulties in writing a
descriptive text.
The type of this research is quantitative. The research design of this study was
quasy experimental design. There are two groups as control and experimental
one with pre-test and post-test both in two groups. The population of the study
was the seventh grade students of SMP Al Musyaffa Kendal in academic year
2018/2019. The sample were 2 classes, VII-C as experimental class an VII-G as
control class. Each of class consisted of 25 students. The results of this research
shows that the mean score of pre-test in control class was 62,7 and the post test
was 73,84. Beside that in experimental group the mean 61,52 and the post-test
79,52. Obsviously there were significant differece between students in control
and experimental group. Based on research finding, the tvalue was 5,25 while the
ttable at significance of 5% was 2,06. It mean that the (Ha) hypothesis was
accepted if tvalue was higher than ttable. The result of tvalue in this research was
higher than ttable (5,25>2,06). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was
accepted and basic questioning technique was effective to be used as the media
in the teaching of descriptive text to improve students ability. Lastly, to support
this research, the researcher gave questionnaires to both control and
experimental class about the difficulties in learning descriptive text. They faced
different problems in learning descriptive text but mostly the problem are, they
still lack in tenses, they still lack in vocabularies, and they still lack in forming
adjective words. But, the students gave positive respond that they would learn to
improve their difficulties in writing descriptive text. The writer suggest the
teacher has to use various teaching technique to improve students motivation in
learning
process.
