The objectives of this study are: (1) To find out how transitivity is realized in Joko
Widodo‟s speech, (2) To find out the transitivity process domination in Joko
Widodo‟s speech. In order to reach these two objectives, the researcher uses the
theory of Halliday. According to Halliday, there are six types of process. They are
material process, relational process, mental process, verbal process, existential
process, and behavioral process. The methodology of this research is descriptive
qualitative research. The result of this research show that 1) The researcher found
six types of transitivity system, there were material process, mental process,
relational process, behavioral process, verbal process, and existential process, 2)
The domination of transitivity system in Joko Widodo‟s speech. The speech was
dominated by material process; because the material processes are processes of
material doing including actions, activities, and events. The other processes found
such as; relational process was in the second rank followed with mental process,
behavioral process, verbal process, and existential process. All those process types
were used because Joko Widodo wanted to make his speech natural, influencing
emotionally and convincing psychologically. Finally, this research is expected to
be reference in learning Systemic Functional Grammar
