This research is trying to find out the illocutionary acts employed by the main
character in the Resident Evil : The Last Chapter movie analysis. The objectives
of the research are:1) to classify the types of illocutionary act by Alice`s
utterances in Resident Evil : The Last Chapter movie, 2) to find the most
dominant types used in the illocutionary act by Alice‟s utterances in Resident
Evil : The Last Chapter movie. This research used qualitative research design.
Which took the data from the utterances of the main character in “Resident Evil :
The Last Chapter” movie. It was found 3 types of illocutionary acts by Alice`s
utterances such as assertive, directive, and expressive. Then the most dominant
types used in the illocutionary act by Alice`s utterances found in the movie
“Resident Evil : The Last Chapter is assertive. Besides, the researcher also
analyzed the setting in the movie Resident Evil : The Last Chapter. Therefore, at
the end of this research, it is suggested to the future researchers, The future
researchers should have more complete research about speech act especially
Illocutionary act. By understanding illocutionary act, the communication will run
well for between the hearer understand what the speaker intends to do with his/her
utterances.
