Stefanie Duhita Mahanani. 2021. Learning Recount Text Using Story Telling
Video of 10th Grade Students of SMA NEGERI 16 SEMARANG in the
academic year 2020/2021. A Final project, English Education Study

This research is about learning recount text using story telling video. The
objectives of this research are (1) Finding out the students’ skill in writing recount
text when they are taught before using story telling video.(2) Finding out the the
students’ skill in writing recount text when they are taught after using story telling
video. (3) Finding out the effectiveness in students’ skill in writing recount text
before and after being taught using story telling video.
Researcher used pretest and post test for answering first and second problem
statement. Researcher gave materi to teacher and one class that consists of 25
students. Researcher also held pre-test and post-test for knowing how effective
using story telling video for learning recount text and measured the data used
N-gain formula.
Finding of the researcher is that the N-Gain effectiveness is 57%. According to
Hake (1999), if the result is less than 40% the method is not effective, if the result
is among 40 % to 55% the method is less effective and if the result is 55% to 75%
the method is fair effective and if the result is more than 75% it is very effective.
It means the result of 57% could be categorized as fairly effective.
The conclusion is story telling video for learning recount text is fairly effective
but not significant. The researcher assumed that the students chosen as the subject
were already having good English speaking skill.
Finally, this research is expected to be reference in learning recount text using
story telling video.
