This study focused on the use of Powtoon in writing recount text of the students.
Sample of the research was students of class XI SMK Al-Husain Keling, Jepara
with total students of 52. There were two classes which consist of experimental
group with 26 students and control group with 26 students. The researcher
conducted a Pre-test and Post-test sessions. Data collection was done by using
quantitative method. From the results of the study showed that by using Powtoon
as media in teaching writing recount text can improve students‟ ability to write
recount text and convey their past experiences in written form. Based on the data
analysis of the Pre-test session in experimental group were 60.19 while Post-test
session was 81.38. In control group the Pre-test was 58.57 while Post-test session
was 67.23. Also in t-test showed that the result of value total was higher than t-
table 6.38 > 2.009. Therefore, it can be concluded that: the use of Powtoon in
teaching recount text could improve students‟ writing skill.
