Abstract
The aim of this research is to determine the effect of a combination of herbal plant
extracts as a natural preservative for broiler chickens. The parameters in this study
were water content and ash content. The experimental design used was a
completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications, with an
extract concentration of 20%. Treatment group P0 (without treatment) as control,
P1 (combination of leaf extracts). betel and guava), P2 (combination of bay leaf
and basil leaf extracts), P3 (combination of star anise and turmeric extracts)
sample testing was carried out at the nutrition and feed science laboratory at
Diponegoro University from 07 March to 21 June 2024, the data obtained was
analyzed using ANOVA with alpha 0.05, the results of statistical analysis of
giving a combination of extra herbal plants as a natural preservative had no effect
on the water content and ash content of broiler chickens with the highest water
content at P0 9.845% and the lowest at P1 amounting to 9.392% while the highest
ash content results were at P2, namely 8.5675% and the lowest ash content,
namely P0 8.1475. The implementation of the results of this research was made in
the form of a guidebook for preserving broiler chickens using conventional
biotechnology material for SMA class X and has met valid standards with material
expert and media expert test results of 97 and 100.
