According to the Brown’s theory and the finding of this study, the researcher
found that the factors causing errors were classified as interlingual transfer,
intralingual transfer, context of learning and communication strategies.
Interlingual transfer is caused by the students’ mother tongue. Intralingual transfer
is caused by the difficulties in using “be”, verb and pronoun. Context of learning
is caused by the absence of references and worksheets related to passive voice and
the classroom’s atmosphere which was uncomfortable. Communication strategies
are caused by the method used in teaching passive voice which was not effective
enough.
