Yeftha Desma Tonapa.2024. The Learners’ Self-Efficacy to Enhance Vocabulary
Mastery in Learning English using Flashcards as a Medium of Instruction for
Early Childhood Level. Advisors: (I) Dr.Dias Andris Susanto,M.Pd.; (II) Dr.
Rahmawati Sukmaningrum, M.P.d.
The aims of this study are: (1) How to investigate the early childhood learners’
implement the self-efficacy of English as a Medium of Instruction using flashcards?.
(2) How to investigate teachers enhance vocabulary in teaching English using
flashcards for early childhood? (3) How to investigate the learners’ problems faced in
learning English using flashcards as a Medium of Instruction for early childhood? (4)
How to investigate the solutions given to the teacher to the learner to overcome to
learn English as a Medium of Instruction using flashcards. This research uses an
experimental research design approach type one group pretest-posttest. The
population in this study was Pre-Kindergarten B aged 3-4 years from KB Maria
Regina School, totaling 14 children. The sample in this study was all 14 children
from group B who were given a pretest before being given treatment and a posttest
after being given treatment by applying the flashcard learning model in the teaching
and learning process. In this research, the data collection method is through
observation, tests and documentation methods. In this study, data analysis used the
Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The research results show that (1) The use of flashcard
media in the learning process for early childhood learners is effective for use in the
classroom to increase children's intelligence and mastery of English and increase the
self-efficacy of early childhood learners. (2) There is an influence on early childhood
learners' mastery of English vocabulary after being given treatment for pre-test and
post-test in the application of flashcards. This is shown in the results of the Wilcoxon
signed-rank test analysis. Based on the test it is known that Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) is
worth 0.001. It is because the value of 0.001 is smaller than <0.05, it can be
concluded that H1 is accepted. (3) There is an influence of early childhood learners in
Pre-Kindergarten class on learning outcomes using flashcards to comprehend their
knowledge to the learners in Pre-Kindergarten Maria Regina School.
