Abstract

Conflict is an active disagreement between people with opposing opinions or principles. Conflict can be defined as the experience of conflicting or incompatible intentions, aims, beliefs, or actions. Therefore, it is impossible to accomplish these objectives simultaneously. This study looks at how fictitious characters, using Harry Potter as the main character from J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" movie, can represent aspects of our everyday lives. The main character's statements towards other characters will be categorized into the types that have occurred using psychological conflict theory. Watching the film, taking notes, conducting a thorough analysis, and organizing the data are the methods and approaches to collect data or can be called documentation and observation data collection. Kurt Lewin's psychological conflict theory will be used to discuss the conflict experienced by the main character; the approach and method of data analysis used is descriptive qualitative with secondary data. In Kurt Lewin's theory (1948), the researchers will use three types of conflict, namely approach-approach Conflict, avoidance-avoidance conflict and approach-avoidance conflict used in his movie. Avoidance-avoidance the primary character engages in conflict with other characters the most frequently. The approach-approach conflict would occur in contrast to the avoidance-avoidance conflict to flee or avoid two undesirable options when a person is faced with two desirable options but can only obtain one.
