Abstract

Adjective vocabulary becomes an important aspect to learn because we can
understand the meaning of words, sentence and we can arrange sentences.
Improving students’ adjective vocabularies need a media to help students memorize
them. The aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of TikTok application
as a potential learning medium to improve students’ adjective vocabulary mastery.
For this reason, teacher should prepare an alternative media for learning process. In
this case, TikTok becomes the biggest social media that used by everyone. The
media used in this research is based on the TikTok as most students have an TikTok
account and spend a lot of time on it. The pre-experimental design that was used in
this research combines a test on one group with a treatment and post-test. The
population of this research are the seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bangsri
in the academic year of 2023/2024. The sample are one class of the seventh-grade
students of SMP Negeri 1 Bangsri. The results of this research showed that the use
of TikTok application succeeded improving students’ adjective vocabulary. The
result of the test shows the mean score was 64,428 in pre test and 79,857 in post
test. The results of this research showed that the TikTok application was successful
in increasing students’ adjective vocabulary. The findings of this research indicated
that using TikTok is one of the most effective media strategies to boost students'
mastery of the adjective vocabulary.
